Barton Springs University is a full day of outdoor learning and fun at Barton Springs Pool. The event is designed for high school and college students and the general public.

Barton Springs University features lectures, panel discussions, presentations, and training by leading academics, professionals, and policy makers on central Texas water science, public policy, and cultural history.

Lectures will take place under the trees on the hill on the south side of the pool and at other locations on the grounds, including the Philosophers’ Rock statue at the front entrance and the Splash! Exhibit in the Sheffield Education Center.


Barton Springs University is organized by the Save Our Springs Alliance in partnership with, among others, the University of Texas Environmental Science Institute, the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, the City of Austin Parks & Recreation and Watershed Protection Departments, Concordia University, Texas State University, and the Austin Independent School District.
